Black Ops Cold War: How to Get Wakizashi Sword

This article is over 4 years old and may contain outdated information

The Wakizashi Sword is a new melee weapon coming to Black Ops Cold War in Season 1. The Wakizashi was the sword that commonly complimented a Samurai’s Katana and is a lightweight, strong blade that’ll slice through your enemies. In this guide, we’ll talk you through how to get the Wakizashi in Black Ops Cold War.

Unlike the MAC-10 SMG and Groza Assault Rifle, the Wakizashi isn’t unlocked through the Battle Pass, and is instead earned by completing a challenge.

How to Get Wakizashi in Black Ops Cold War

To get the Wakizashi, you’ll need to execute 2 Finishing Moves in 10 different matches with the Combat Knife equipped.

Therefore first things first, make sure you’ve got the Combat Knife equipped on your class and hop into some games. We’d also advise equipping the Perk Greek wildcard and using the following perks to help keep you undetected while trying to unlock the Wakizashi in Black Ops Cold War:

  • Paranoia
  • Forward Intel
  • Assassin
  • Tracker
  • Ghost
  • Ninja

How to Perform Finishing Moves

Finishing Moves are performed by creeping up behind an enemy and then pressing and holding the Melee button. This is set to pressing in the right analog stick on PlayStation and Xbox, and Mouse Button 4 or E on PC.

The main thing to remember here is you need to keep the melee button held down. This should then trigger a slightly slower (and rather gory) animation of you slicing and dicing the enemy.

The animation does take a while, and if a teammate kills the enemy you’re performing a Finishing Move on, or you’re killed during the animation, it won’t count towards the Wakizashi challenge.

Do this twice in a match, in 10 different matches and you’ll unlock the Wakizashi in Black Ops Cold War. This can then be equipped in Create-a-Class under the Melee Weapons section.
