Fortnite: Battle Royale Celebrates Three Years With Free Cake

The Battle Royale mode of Fortnite celebrates three years this weekend with a birthday event and free cosmetic items.

The Birthday Bash event gives the Battle Bus a new paint job and litters the environment with “Birthday Presents” that contain random items.

The event also offers in-game challenges in core game modes to unlock XP and cake-themed items such as a weapon skin, spray, emoji, and the Cake! Back Bling for completing all challenges.

The challenges are available starting today until Thursday, Oct. 1, and logging in during any of those days also gives a Take the Cake emote.

Also celebrating Fortnite’s birthday today is Rocket League, another of Epic Games’ properties, which offers a playable Battle Bus and other cosmetic items starting today until Oct. 12.

Fortnite: Battle Royale originally launched for PC, Mac, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on Sept. 26, 2017 in early access followed by Nintendo Switch and mobile in 2018.

Android, iOS, and Mac players currently do not have access to the event after the game was removed from both mobile app stores last month, sparking lawsuits between Epic Games against Apple and Google for “anti-competitive restraints and monopolistic practices” in regards to third-party payment systems.
