Mafia: Definitive Edition is inching toward its release next month, and developer Hangar 13 has released a new trailer to help tide fans over in the meantime.
Streamed during the Gamescom Opening Night Live digital event held on Aug 27, the trailer showed off a bit more of what the full remake of the first Mafia game will offer to fans new and old, namely through its story.
In it, main character Tommy Angelo meets some of the most prominent members of the Salieri crime family, attempting to prove his worth as a potential new member. They speak on how loyalty is most important of all to them, and how showing it will ensure him a comfortable life; to which Tommy assures them he’s just the right man for the job.
The trailer then cuts to footage of Tommy in action during missions, shooting and smashing his way through various situations while being drawn into a life alongside members of the family; and, inch by inch, drawing him even further into a dark and dangerous life that he may never be able to escape alive.
All the while, the game’s enhanced graphics remade from the ground up take the drama to the next level, improving and even remaking scenes from the original title to maximum effect.
It’s quite the show of the game’s strengths to say the least, and fans will want to check out the full trailer down below.
Mafia: Definitive Edition is slated for release on Sept. 25 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. For more on the game, check out our coverage of a recent gameplay reveal detailing one of the game’s rebuilt missions.
