The first-person shooter returns with protagonist Sam “Serious” Stone defending humanity against alien invaders using a variety of upgradable weapons such as a double-barreled shotgun, minigun, chainsaw launcher, cannon, and the new auto shotgun.

According to the press release, iconic Serious Sam enemies return such as the “Headless Kamikaze, Beheaded Rocketeer, Kleer, Scrapjack, Werebull, and Khnum.” The sequel will contain new enemies including the “frantic Processed, repulsive Belcher, and the hard hitting Brute Zealot.”

Croteam released several videos showing off the game’s battles, enemies, weapons, and music on Steam alongside a huge sale of previous Serious Sam titles.

Serious Sam 4 also features what the developers call the “Legion System,” that allows some of the levels in the game to have “thousands and thousands” of enemies as shown in the video below.

The game is now available for pre-order on Steam in standard and deluxe editions, but will also be launching alongside Google Stadia this August.

The standard edition costs $39.99, while the deluxe edition costs $49.99 and contains the game’s soundtrack, digital artbook, and the Classic Tommy Gun in-game weapon skin.
