After the first bombing mission at the mako reactor, Avalanche will need to make their escape back to the Sector 7 slums. Before that, though, Cloud needs to fight his way out of the crowded city center, and you’ll encounter an enemy called the Huntsman right before you get on the train.

The Huntsman may seem intimidating at first, but he’ll soon become a regular enemy that you’ll fight throughout the course of the game. Armed with a riot shield, you can’t simply wail at him with the Buster Sword head on. Instead, you’ll want to use magic spells on him.

Try to bait him into an attack that leaves him exposed, then circle around to his back to hit him a few times to build up your ATB charge. Once you have a charge, use the Fire spell to Pressure him immediately and cause him to drop his shield.

When this happens, you can go in for some big hits to build up another ATB charge. If you manage to build it up while he’s still Pressured, go for a Focused Thrust to Stagger him completely, then use Cloud’s Punisher mode to finish him off.

It’s as simple as that; magic will work wonders against most shielded enemies.

That’s all you need to know about how to beat the Huntsman in Final Fantasy 7 Remake. Be sure to search for Twinfinite and check our guide wiki for more tips and information on the game.
