The Last of Us Part II Director Pays Homage to Naughty Dog’s Animation and Production Teams

With The Last of Us Part II finally coming close to its release, director and writer Neil Druckmann paid homage to two relevant teams at Naughty Dog.

With The Last of Us Part II finally coming close to its massively-anticipated release, director and writer Neil Druckmann paid homage to two relevant teams at Naughty Dog.

Druckmann took to Twitter to talk about the animation team at the studio, mentioning that Naughty Dog can count on one of the best if not the best in the industry, both in technical knowledge and raw animation skill. He also added that he’s still “blown away” by the quality of the animation in Last of Us Part II.

Shortly after, Druckmann also paid homage to the members of the production team (I.E. the game’s producers), calling them “unsung heroes” of TLOU2, adding that the game wouldn’t be the same without them, who “wrangled a complex schedule, and facilitated valuable communication.”

Druckmann’s comments were echoed by lead animator Almudena Soria and producer Jennifer Jessee.

The Last of Us Part II has recently been delayed to May 29 (it was originally supposed to launch on February 21, and it’s coming exclusively to PS4.

If you want to see and learn more, you can also enjoy a recent trailer, and read some more recent comments by Druckmann on gameplay, graphics, and story.

Speaking of The Last of Us, we also learned that a TV series is coming to HBO, co-written by Druckmann himself, with composer Gustavo Santaolalla working on the music.
