While Xbox certainly isn’t known for having the most Japanese games on the platform, division head Phil Spencer has always made a point to pledge his support for the developers of the rising sun.
Today he mentioned on Twitter that he’s back in the country to talk to local studios and publishers about 2020 and beyond.
He also mentioned that he feels a “really strong energy and excitement” about gaming’s future.
It’ll be interesting to see what Spencer will manage to achieven during his trip to Japan.
Previously, he has been to the country back in March 2019, and his trips certainly appeared to bear fruit as he finally managed to help Phantasy Star Online 2 get a much-overdue localization.

Personally, I talk a lot with Japanese developers, and many of them have mentioned interest in working with Xbox. That being said, especially smaller and medium-sized studios often appear to feel a bit unsure on how to go about it, since Microsoft pretty much lacks a local organization dedicated to gaming. We’ll have to wait and see if Spencer and his team will manage to improve this situation.
