25 years ago, Blizzard made a significant step on the staircase to its success with the release of Warcraft, and today they released a trailer to celebrate.
The trailer titled “For Azeroth” showcases plenty of cinematic from various games of the series, and from the recent movie, and it’s sure to spark nostalgia for fans of the series, whether they’re Alliance or Horde.
The original Warcraft was released on November 23, 1994, which means that the actual anniversary will be in exactly twenty days.
Of course, the series has evolved a lot since then and moved from its RTS roots to the super-popular MMORPG World of Warcraft, which will also celebrate its 15th anniversary exactly on the same day.
That being said, Blizzard will bring Warcraft 3 back as Warcraft 3: Reforged soon, so younger players will be able to experience the franchise in a genre that has been neglected as of late, but that includes a lot of old lore that might help them better enjoy WoW’s modern stories.
Of course, the MMORPG is also progressing further, and it’s getting a new expansion called Shadowlands, which will continue the story after Battle for Azeroth in 2020. A “Classic” version of the game is also available for those who prefer a more “vanilla” approach to the game.
