Pokemon Sword and Shield are two new mainline Pokemon games for the Nintendo Switch that bring with it a new region with never-before-seen Pokemon and plenty of familiar faces from past regions, like Rock/Ground- type Larvitar for example. Here’s everything you need to know about how to get Larvitar in Pokemon Sword and Shield.
How to Get Larvitar in Pokemon Sword & Shield
Larvitar is a Pokemon that was introduced in the second generation of Pokemon games which are Pokemon Gold/Silver/Crystal. It’s an adorable rock/ground-type Pokemon that can eventually evolve into Tyranitar, who is a really powerful ally to have on your team.
To actually catch a Larvitar, you must own Pokemon Shield as this Pokemon is not found in Sword unless you trade with someone.
If you’re playing Pokemon Shield, you can find it at the Lake of Outrage while there is overcast or intense sunlight. There is only a 5% chance of actually finding it though so keep trying if you’ve yet to encounter it.
You can also get lucky and find it during a Max Raid Battle out in the Wild Area.
How to Evolve Larvitar into Pupitar & Tyranitar
If you already have a Larvitar and are looking to evolve it into something, you should know that you’ll be training it for a very long time. Larvitar doesn’t evolve into Pupitar until it reaches level 30 and then you won’t get to Tyranitar until level 55.
And that’s pretty much all you need to know about how to get Larvitar in Pokemon Sword and Shield. For more on the game, make sure to check out our extensive Guide Wiki and here are some more guides for you to check out while you’re here:
