All animals need water. That’s not only a fact in Planet Zoo, that’s just a fact of life. If your animals don’t have access to clean drinking water regularly, you’re going to quickly go to running the most depressing zoo ever. Here’s how to get clean water in Planet Zoo.
How to Get Clean Water in Planet Zoo
One of the most basic things you learn in Planet Zoo as it’s one of the first things you learn in the game’s tutorial right after learning how to get animals is how to provide them water, which is thankfully very easy.
Simply place a water bowl of varying size depending on your needs and a caretaker will regularly keep it nice and filled for your animals to sip, sip, sip from like the good boys and girls they are.
However, your water needs to be treated from time to time. Water will eventually get gross, contaminated and unsafe without proper treatment.
Water Treatment facilities thus can be bought and placed in your park to keep all water stations within a large radius clean and safe to drink.

You can locate the Water Treatment building within the Facilities tab on the bottom bar. If you’re having trouble finding it click Facilities and then just search for it using the search bar.
It costs $2,000 to build; pricey but necessary if you have any dreams of having a zoo full of animals that aren’t miserable and free of protesters.
When you select the building, and go to place it you can see the radius of the coverage surrounding the building. Make sure to put it in a place that can treat lots of water stations.
They require power and will slowly degrade over time reducing their Clean Water range and effectiveness. You will need to eventually replace them.
One important factor to keep is that guests don’t like to see Water Treatment facilities and if they see it, it will make them unhappy. To keep your rating high, try to keep Water Treatment buildings tucked away and hidden in your park but still powered and able to clean water.

How to Get Clean Water in Planet Zoo
- Create a habitat and include water bowls.
- Create a Water Treatment building from the Facilities menu, make sure it’s powered.
- Place the Water Treatment building within radius of habitats with water, but try to avoid putting it in areas of high human traffic.
