Anyone who plays gran strategy games is probably familiar with the fact that they can be rather demanding in terms of hardware, especially during the late game.
With the next-generation of consoles coming soon, we asked Romance of the Three Kingdoms XIV Producer Kazuhiro Echigoya what he thinks the upcoming new PlayStation and/or Project Scarlett may bring to the series.
According to Echigoya-san, the powerful new hardware will usher evolution in terms of artificial intelligence (which incidentally is a crucial aspect in strategy games), including the collection and usage of gameplay data from the players themselves.
“These are my personal thoughts on what might happen. AI will definitely feel a lot more like it reacts realistically. I think we’ll experience that kind of gameplay.
The second one, with this game we’re actually collecting game data. It’s a bit of a “big data” aspect. I think we’ll be able to collect more data in real-time, and I believe this will simultaneously improve the AI systems as well.
I think those aspects will definitely benefit this series as well.”
Romance of The Three Kingdoms XIV will be released in Japan before the end of the year. The game will also come in North America and Europe in early 2020.
The platforms for all regions will be PS4 and PC.
