During Electronic Arts’ financial conference call for investors and analysts, Chief Executive Officer Andrew Wilson confirmed that a new reveal for the Need for Speed franchise is coming in August.
During his prepared remarks for the conference, Wilson mentioned that the game will be revealed “heading into Gamescom in the next few weeks.”
“We’ll take the wraps off our new Need for Speed Game heading into Gamescom in the next few weeks.”
The development of a new Need for Speed game was revealed back in February and at the moment the game is confirmed for a Q3 (fiscal, which means between October and December 2019) release on consoles and PC.
The previous mainline installment of the franchise was Need for Speed: Payback, which was released for PS4, Xbox One, and PC all the way back in 2017. If you’d like a trip down the memory lane, you can check out our review from back then.
The Need for Speed franchise actually has a history of playable debuts at Gamescom, so it’ll be interesting to see if we’ll manage to get our hands on it in Cologne.
