Today Vanillaware and Atlus released a new batch of screenshots and details of their upcoming “dramatic adventure” game 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim.

This follows the latest reveal on Famitsu, but of course, the images are direct-feed this time around, providing a better look at the game, which behind with the thirteen young heroes from different eras.

You can check them out below.

The game includes three main parts, Adventure is where you play the story and interactions among characters, Battle is where you fight the creatures threatening the world, and Archive lets you review events and data.

The Adventure part includes most of the story and it’s governed by the “Cloud Sync” system.

Interaction within the Cloud Sync system is done by selecting keywords that appear during conversations. Thinking lets you change them to different keywords and by saying them to other characters. This is intended to create a more natural flow compared to simply selecting options in usual visual novels.

Each protagonist has a dedicated episode focused on them and another closely related character. Following these stories leads towards the solution of the great mystery.

Moving on to the Battle part, the player will have to make full use of four types of mecha, melee, universal, long-range, and flight. These will fight in exhilarating simulation RPG battles against giant enemy monsters.

The purpose of the heroes is to stop those monsters before their attacks reach the “Terminal” base. It’s possible to unlock new weapons and upgrade the mecha and players who prefer to simply enjoy the story can use an easy mode selectable in the “Battle Style” option.

The Archives part of the game goes in-depth into the carefully created worldview of the game. It allows the player to rewatch event scenes and to check files on characters, robots, and even food. Each file is accompanied by beautiful illustrations. New files can be unlocked by using points earned in battle, and it’s also possible to unlock new episodes in the adventure part.

If you want to see more, you can check out the latest gameplay release and an earlier trailer.

Vanillaware has also been teasing another game, of which we’re supposed to hear more after the completion of 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim.

13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim releases in Japan on  November 28, 2019, exclusively for PS4. A western release has also been announced a while ago, but we don’t know much about it just yet.
