Today, during a broadcast on Twitch, Capcom provided more information about Monster Hunter: World and its upcoming expansion Iceborne.
Following the trailer released earlier today, we hear that the development of the expansion has been running in parallel with the production of traditional title updates for the base game.
The expansion adds Master Rank, which is like the G Rank from previous games.
We’ll get to take a look at the new locale, which is named Hoarfrost Reach, and at the new monsters, Banbaro, Beotodus, Nargacuga, and the new flagship monster Velkhana.
We only got a picture of Velkhana, but more will be shared at a later time.
We also get to see more hunter actions including the ability to use the slinger with your weapon drawn. The Clutch Claw will let you grapple onto monsters, while all weapons will have various combos and elements added.
You can see all the new footage below, and a full recording of the livestream at the bottom of the post.
We learn that the expansion will be offered on its own digitally for $39.99. A Digital Deluxe version which will include various goodies (which you can see in the gallery) will cost $49.99.
A physical “Master Edition” will include both the base game and the expansion, with pre-orders launching today and including the Yukumo series layered armor as a bonus. It’ll cost $59.99 for the standard edition and $79.99 for the Deluxe Edition (including a steelbook and the goodies from the digital deluxe version).
Monster Hunter: World Iceborne will be released for PS4 and Xbox One on September 6.
The Steam version will be released in the winter, so the gap won’t be as large as it was for the main game.
More news will come at E3 2019 in June and afterward.
