First of all, we learn that the game shipped 1.5 million units on Switch, this includes shipments to retailers and digital downloads on the Nintendo eShop worldwide. This milestone was actually achieved by January 2019.

On top of that, the developers apologized to those who are waiting for a new game on consoles, mentioning that it will require more time in development.

Octopath Traveler was released worldwide exclusively for Nintendo Switch on July 13, 2018, co-developed by Square Enix and Akihabara-based studioAcquire. It was quickly adopted by fans of traditional JRPGs as one of the purest examples of the fact that the genre is certainly still alive and well, and can achieve great results when provided with the proper love and care.

1.5 million units achieved on a single platform certainly seem to support that view.
