During a stage event at Taipei Game Show, Sony Interactive Entertainment showcased a nice chunk of gameplay of Bend Studios’ upcoming open-world adventure Days Gone.

We begin by taking a look at a moment early in the campaign when Deacon has to find a part for his bike in an abandoned service station. We also see how the player can search the place for useful items to scavenge.

The second clip features a more challenging task later in the game. Deacon has to clear a nest of freakers to protect a nearby community of survivors.

We see two approaches to this task: the first time the player goes in guns blazing and gets inevitably overwhelmed and killed by the unstoppable horde.

The second time, he pre-plans his approach with trip mines placed near explosive items, and he funnels the horde through several choke points to avoid being overwhelmed.

Suddenly, the unstoppable horde isn’t so unstoppable anymore, showing the importance of strategy and planning.

You can check out the videos below. If you want to see more, you can enjoy another video showing the open world, and another focusing on Deacon’s motorcycle.

Days Gone releases exclusively for PS4 on April 26, 2019.
