Castlevania-inspired Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night will not be coming to Mac and Linux platforms, creator Koji Igarashi announced today.

“We have made this tough decision due to challenges of supporting middleware and online feature support and making sure we deliver on the rest of the scope for the game,” Igarashi wrote in a Kickstarter update. “We will be offering backers who planned to play the game on Mac and Linux the option to change the platform of their order.”

It is not the first time that platforms initially planned for Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night have been canceled. The Wii U version was canceled in March 2017 alongside the announcement of it coming to the Nintendo Switch, and the PlayStation Vita version was canceled last August due to Sony’s discontinuation of the handheld.

Igarashi apologized for the inconvenience and provided a small update on the Kickstarter project in the post. His development team is currently working on performance for each platform, adjusting enemy placements, and taking care of “progression-blocking bugs.”

Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night is still scheduled to launch sometime in 2019 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC through Steam and GOG.com.
