How to Equip Clothes, Weapons & Armor in Fallout 76

You can’t go strutting around the wasteland without some good armor and a weapon to arm yourself. If you managed to find some good items, here’s how to equip clothes, weapons, and armor in Fallout 76.

With danger lurking around every corner of the wasteland in Fallout 76, it’s important to find yourself some good gear. You can generally find more clothes, weapons, and armor by simply looting the wasteland. Any NPC enemies you come across can sometimes have the odd bit of armor on, but will almost always have some weapons for you to use as you protect yourself around the wasteland.

Alternatively, keep an eye out for what look like Vault 76 stash boxes lying around the world. You’ll often come across these at locations the main quests take you, and they’ll contain some a Holotape from the Vault 76 Overseer, alongside a number of handy items for your adventure. More often than not, you’ll find some armor, weapons, and ammo included.

However, these items aren’t going to equip themselves once you have them in Fallout 76. You’re going to need to do that yourself. Luckily, the process is incredibly simple and hardly takes up any of your time.

Depending on your console, you’ll want to access your Pip-Boy by pressing the Circle or B button. Once you have that up, you’ll want to tab over to the Equipment section by pressing R1 or RB.

The Equipment section should have separate tabs such as weapons, ammo, and clothes, which you can scroll between using R2 or RT. You can then use the left analog stick to scroll through all of the different clothes, weapons, and armor you can equip in Fallout 76.

Just look through all of your inventory and find something you want to use, like a new gun or some snazzy clothes. When you’ve finally found it, simply press X or A to equip it.

How to Change Character Appearance

Aside from your clothes, weapons, and armor, you can also change how your character looks in Fallout 76. This means that you can essentially change how your character looks at any point in the game. Forget spending hours at the first character creation screen only to end up regretting how they look afterwards.

If you want to give your Fallout 76 avatar a makeover, just open the map with the menu button. From there, use L1 or LB to navigate the menu and select the Change Appearance option.

You will then have the option of tweaking which specific part of your character’s face you want to change. There are plenty of options for you to choose from, so feel free to go wild with it.

That about wraps up everything you need to know about how to equip clothes, weapons, and armor as well as changing your character’s appearance in Fallout 76. For more tips and tricks, make sure to drop by our extensive Fallout 76 wiki.
