Blizzard announced on Twitter that the annual summer event will run from August 9 to August 30. A new Lucioball map was also teased in the image, and the official Overwatch twitter handle for Korea confirms  that the stadium is set in Busan, South Korea. While new Lucioball stadiums barely change the gameplay and structure of the football-like game mode, it introduces some variety to the backdrop of the annual game mode, at the least.

The first Overwatch Summer Games was set in Rio de Janeiro and featured an Olympic theme, with Blizzard releasing sportswear outfits for its heroes. Meanwhile, players had a chance to grab summer-themed outfits during the 2017 summer event set in Sydney, Australia. Presumably, Overwatch Summer Games 2018 will bring traditional Asian-inspired skins this year.

Not much else was revealed by Blizzard outside of the start date for Overwatch Summer Games 2018 and the return of Lucioball. We will also have to wait and see whether ranked matches for Lucioball will make a return.

The Overwatch Summer Games 2018 event comes hot off the heels of Blizzard’s balancing updates for support heroes and the introduction of Wrecking Ball, a genetically modified hamster hero.
