Do note that we’re just assuming the Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age trailer that Square Enix showed off yesterday was early PS4 footage. With HD remasters becoming a common trend these days, it was only a matter of time before someone took the trailer for The Zodiac Age and compared it with the original PS2 version. Thanks to YouTube user Cycu1, we now get to see how much of an improvement The Zodiac Age is over its PS2 counterpart.
Overall, the graphics are definitely looking a lot cleaner, which is great, as the PS2 graphics certainly look rather muddied by today’s standards. Hopefully the character models in this remaster will get the proper HD treatment they deserve, and not come out looking like the ugly in-game ones that we saw in the Final Fantasy X HD remaster. The characters looked great in cutscenes, but the in-game models were pretty ugly. It was kind of atrocious.
Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age is set to be released for the PS4 in 2017.
