You play as a Ripper, basically a hacker who obtains incredibly classified corporate info and sells it to whoever’s willing to fork over the cash for it. To do so, you have to infiltrate the world’s most secure servers, as an avatar modeled after the game’s pixelized look. The first person mechanics of the base game are all here–shooting, stealth, melee–and you’ll obtain Praxis Points that you can use to level up your skills or gain new ones.

To mix things up, you can send your high score to other players and challenge them to beat it. If they do, they get extra credits and if they don’t, well then, they’re the best. Modifiers can be added, such as failure if you’re detected, extra damage from enemies, or health draining every second. If you beat the game with those modifiers, you’ll get a bigger reward. There are also positive modifiers that give you extra ammo or health.

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided comes to the PS4, Xbox One, and PC on August 23.
