Free for those who need a little love this week!

Often when it comes to the world of video games, the word free often comes with a certain amount of scepticism. The term normally comes attached to the phrase “In App Purchases” or “Microtransactions”. It’s always nice therefore when something comes around that is actually free.

This weekend that just so happens to be the case. Gone Home; a first person adventure game set in the year 1995 and developed by The Fulbright Company is free for players to pick up until the end of the weekend.

The game, which normally retails at around $19.95 is free for PC users on Windows, Linux and Mac. To pick up a free copy all you have to do is head over to itch.io where the game is currently on sale for $0.00. Fans wishing to support the developer may opt in to “pay what they think is fair”, but the amount is completely up to each player.

In a tweet, developer Steve Gaynor explained that the game was free:

Gone Home was initially released back in 2013 for PC but has since made the transition onto both Xbox One and PS4. In other related news, The Fullbright Company’s next game Tokoma is due to release next year for Xbox One and PC.
