The anticipation for MLB The Show fans over who the next cover athlete would be ended this past Saturday, when Josh Donaldson of the Toronto Blue Jays was confirmed to be taking the spotlight on the latest cover.
Donaldson will be gracing the box art in a pose that shows him watching the ball soar off into the distance after hitting it into the stands. Donaldson is the reigning American league MVP who had an amazing year in 2015 by earning the MLB Players Association’s Player of the Year award and the AL Outstanding Player award. Not to mention that he also set a new record for most votes ever received for an All Star Game performance.
MLB The Show 16 was officially unveiled at the PlayStation Experience this past weekend with a release date of March 29, 2016 on PS4 & PS3. Not only will this new entry include a superior visual update, but it’s also adding a new catching mechanic that will very likely add more depth to the gameplay. The cover athlete announcement trailer below takes you through a brief history of the MLB players that have gotten the honor of gracing the PlayStation series’ covers in past years, leading up to Donaldson’s appearance.
