New Yakuza; Like a Dragon Video Shows All the JRPG Jobs in Action, Including 2 DLC Classes

Today Sega released a new video of its upcoming JRPG Ryu ga Gotoku 7: Whereabouts of Light and Darkness, also known as Yakuza: Like a Dragon in the west.

This video is particularly interesting as it focuses on one of the most relevant JRPG elements of the game, the job system.

Basically, you can change the jobs of your characters pretty much like in your JRPG. The difference is that instead of having your white mages, black mages, and paladins, you have bodyguards, hosts, and idols. 

In the video you can see the following jobs in action: Freeter, Brave, Homeless, Detective, Chi-Mama (basically a lady put in charge of an establishment), Bodyguard, Host, Idol, Demolition Worker, Street Musician, Cabaret Club Lady, Dancer, Riot Police, Dealer, Chef, Fortune Teller, and Night Queen.

We also see two jobs that will be distributed as DLC. The first is “Devil” which is basically a heavy metal dark knight, while the second is “Anego,” a female-only job fighting with a naginata and guns. “Anego” literally means older sister, and it’s the “respectful” way Yakuza call the boss’ wife, especially when she takes charge while her husband is absent or in jail. 

We also take a look at an exam at the Ounbara Vocational School, where Ichiban can take qualification tests to improve his Human Power.

Yakuza: Like a Dragon will launch in Japan on January 16, 2020, exclusively for PS4. It’ll also come west later next year, and a demo is already available on the Japanese PSN.
