Someone Has Ranked the Monster Hunter: World Monsters by How Good Their Names Would Be as a Death Metal Band

This article is over 6 years old and may contain outdated information

It’s old news that Monster Hunter: World has been selling like hotcakes; the title has gone on to become Capcom’s fastest-selling title in history, crazy right? Everyone finally seems to enjoy the ultimate grind of hunting huge beasts together with friends, and then crafting stronger equipment to do it all over again. It’s become a worldwide phenomenon, so much, that a resetera user by the name of MetroidPrimeRib (great name) has come up with a brilliant, ranked list. A list that ranks all of the big monsters in Monster Hunter: World by how good their names would be as a death metal band – stick with me.

He covers all 27 monsters that the game has to offer and really just goes in-depth on each and every one, eventually coming up with his number one choice. The monster on the bottom of the list happens to be Pukei-Pukei, which, let’s face it, sounds like the name of a band who performs Disney song covers or something, not that anything’s wrong with Disney songs, but come on. Diablos sits at number 6, but is a bit too “on the nose” for a death metal band – Diablos literally means ‘Devil’ in Spanish, which makes it super unoriginal – sorry Diablos.

MetroidPrimeRib’s number one choice for the best death metal band name goes to the Anjanath, which I could not agree with more. Anjanath just sounds like something that would be deadly, metal, and just rad as all heck. Just use it in a sentence, “Hey did you hear Anjanath’s new album?” Doesn’t that just roll right off the tongue.

To check out the full ranking, you can see the thread right here on resetera. What monster from Monster Hunter: World would be your number one pick for a death metal band? Let us know in the comments below!
