Does Australia know something we don't?

Pro Evolution Soccer 2016 may be seeing a free-to-play version according to a classification listing from the Australian government’s Classification Board.

Though Konami has made no announcements regarding a free-to-play changeup for the title, the Board listed “Pro Evolution Soccer 2016 Free to Play” yesterday, November 19. The Classification Board serves to classify new films, computer games, and other publications, basically giving them the A-OK before they are allowed to become publicly available.

PES 2016 released a little over a month ago, and is one of Konami’s main franchises apart from the massively popular Metal Gear series. It’s unclear whether a free-to-play version of Pro Evolution Soccer 2016 will ultimately become a reality, and whether or not it would be sequestered to certain markets.

Konami recently tested the waters of microtransactions in Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, and already implements the free-to-play model in many of their mobile games.
