Players can play multiplayer with up to eight players online, but if friends want to play locally then the max amount of people who can join in is four. That style can be done with split screen and there will be support for the Switch Pro Controller. The game can played in both portable mode and on the TV like any other Switch game. This new version will also include the Super Mario Mash-Up which was previously released for the Wii U. This will bring along several Mario themed skins, textures, and many more from the world of Mario to Minecraft.

Minecraft was previously announced for the Nintendo Switch back in January, but this is the first time since then that a release date has been mentioned. This news was dropped along with several other news about other Switch games such as ARMS, Splatoon 2 and some other games heading to the 3DS.
