Crytek, the developers behind the Crysis series and the Xbox One exclusive Ryse: Son of Rome, have released a teaser video showcasing a VR exclusive trailer.
Named The Climb, Crytek are creating a VR experience for the rock climbing. It looks to be set in a region influenced by Ha Long Bay in Vietnam, with landscapes created by Crytek to feel natural and exciting at the same time. While the video provided by Crytek to showcase their project is just a teaser, it doesn’t seem like it will be a full-fledged virtual reality game, but rather a smaller experience that focuses on rock climbing and exploring.
Be warned, this will not be the best VR experience for those who have a fear of heights. Even though there is the safety net of the player being grounded while playing, with the emphasis that Crytek puts on beautiful graphics The Climb will be made to feel as real as possible. You can watch the teaser trailer below.
The public release of the Oculus Rift is still said to be Q1 2016, although with that time window coming soon it shouldn’t be long before there is a concrete date provided. The VR headset being created by Sony is also expected to release next year, with the company recently showcasing projects like Rock Band VR, Golem, and 100ft Robot Golf at the PlayStation Experience.
