The latest DOOM game just launched last Friday, and already it seems to be experiencing its fair share of bugs. It’s par for the course, really, considering that Bethesda games tend to fall prey to such issues. With DOOM, these issues seem particularly problematic. Players have been reporting on both Reddit and Bethesda’s forums that the game can start in developer mode, preventing players from progressing in the game and accessing the online multiplayer portion.
If you attempt to play the single-player campaign in dev mode, the game will automatically think that you’re cheating or hacking, and your progress will not be saved.
Thankfully, there is a solution to this dev mode problem. According to Gosunoob, activating a console command will send the game into dev mode. To counteract this problem, players will have to delete any campaign save files that made progress with dev mode active. After that, simply disable cloud saving to Steam, and you should be able to play the game again without any problems.
It’s a little frustrating, considering that you’ll be losing progress, but this seems to be the only reliable fix for now. Have you been encountering any other game-breaking bugs in DOOM? Let us know in the comments down below.
DOOM is now available on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
