The PlayStation 4 has been receiving a fair amount of PS2 titles so far, and the first Dark Cloud was ones of the first games to make it over from the older system. Today on the newest edition of the PlayStation Blogcast, it was revealed that Dark Cloud 2 would be coming to PS2 emulation on January 19, 2016.
This Level-5 developed JRPG casts you as two different main characters named Max and Monica, who come from the present and future respectively. They have to work together to stop Emperor Griffon, who wishes to destroy the present from back in the past. The story of Dark Cloud 2 and the first game aren’t actually connected, and in Japan Dark Cloud 2 is actually known as Dark Chronicle.
It released on the PlayStation 2 in Japan in 2002, and later hit the U.S. in 2003, and featured a unique mix of gameplay with action role-playing and city-building elements.
So far it seems like Sony is releasing one PS2 emulation title a week after their initial host of available games. This past Tuesday Arc the Lad: Twilight of the Spirits was the PS2 title that hit the PlayStation store. Take a look at a list of 50 other PS2 games that we think should make their way to the PS4.
Are you excited that Dark Cloud 2 is coming to the PlayStation 4? Did you play the game when it was on the PS2? What other titles are you still hoping to see come to emulation? Let us know what you think down in the comments.
