Life is Strange’s Everyday Heroes Competition Becomes Real to Support Anti-Bullying Charity

Well this is seriously hella cool news. Life is Strange’s in-game competition (Everyday Heroes) highlighting every day acts of courage, is coming to life thanks to Square Enix, Dontnod Entertainment, and PACER’s National Bullying Prevention Center.

Life is Strange, which stars a teenage girl (Max Caulfield) in high school, touches on a lot of heavy issues that teens and younger children often face such as depression, suicide, and bullying. The in-game Everyday Heroes photo competition, meant to highlight everyday people preforming heroic acts, will be made real, and will utilize social media to raise money towards a charitable gift to PACER’s National Bullying Prevention Center. According to the Square Enix Blog, every social media post that uses the hashtag #EverydayHeroes (presumably Twitter as that’s what is linked on the blog post) will increase Square Enix’s donation to PACER’s National Bullying Prevention Center.

There’s more to it than just that. You can also join in on the conversation by sharing your own story of how you overcame adversity or helped someone else to the same by using the #everydayheroes hashtag. Get in on the action before Jan. 19 if you’re interested though, as that is when the campaign will end.

“Life Is Strange is one of those games with people, places and events that almost all of us can relate to. If you’ve already played through the game, you’ll know that it tackles a lot of social issues such as childhood friendships, young adult angst, trying to define yourself, and on a darker note, bullying, which is integral to the main story of the game. It’s also a serious problem that many face on a daily basis and in order to shed some light on this issue, we’ve started a campaign in collaboration with PACER’s National Bullying Prevention Center called #EverydayHeroes.
