League of Legends introduced the Blood Moon way back in 2011 with the Blood Moon Akali and Blood Moon Shen skins. Within League lore, the Blood Moon is celebrated by the Ionian people as a New Year tradition of sorts to cleanse the spirit. This year, however, marks the first time Riot Games has launched an in-game mode to celebrate. Available from Feb. 10 to Feb. 14, the mode will then take a slight break before concluding on Feb. 17 to Feb. 21.
Featuring League of Legend’s recently buffed assassins, The Hunt of the Blood Moon disables defensive items and will only have twenty characters: Ahri, Akali, Camille, Diana, Ekko, Elise, Eve, Fizz, Kassadin, Katarina, Kennen, Kha’Zix, Le’Blanc, Lee Sin, Rengar, Pantheon, Shaco, Talon, Yasuo, and Zed. Played on the summoner’s Rift map, but with a reddish visual hue, The Rift Herald and Dragon is replaced by the Demon Herald, which will grant a Demon Brand buff, making players invisible to enemies. Spirits will also roam the jungle. Killing these creatures and opposing players will grant points. The first team to reach 350 points is declared the winner.
To celebrate another Blood Moon, four new skins are also introduced at 1350 RP each along with icons for each skin at 250 RP each or all together as a bundle for 8891 RP (discount applied if champions are already owned):
- Blood Moon Jhin
- Blood Moon Diana
- Blood Moon Twisted Fate
- Blood Moon Talon
A Blood Moon Rising icon can be purchase for 250 RP or 1500 IP, available until Feb. 13 while a Blood Demon Ward can be had for 640 RP.
Here is a list of all available Blood Moon skins from the past:
