Borealys Games was founded in 2014 by experienced developers Louis-Felix Cauchon and Patric J. Mondou, whose previous works respectively include Sang-Froid: Tales of Werewolves and Dungeon Hunter. They have brought in Ed Greenwood to create the story of their colorful new world.

Greenwood’s previous work in creating Forgotten Realms, which was adopted as Advanced D&D’s campaign setting in 1987, has earned him lifelong acclaim in the fantasy-gaming sphere and brings pedigree to Mages of Mystralia. Forgotten Realms had been used as the setting for many video games over the years, such as BioWare’s Icewind Dale, Baldur’s Gate and the Neverwinter Nights series.

Borealys Games is being advised by Dan Adelman, previously head of Digital Distribution at Nintendo of America and who brought Axiom Verge to PSN, on business strategy.

Mages of Mystralia intrigues with a focus on spell-crafting unique spells to overcome environmental hazards and enemies. The game is set to release in 2017 on Steam.
