BioWare announced today that they’ll be partnering with Cedar Fair on a Mass Effect themed ride for California’s Great America. The ride looks to be a 3D adventure akin to the Spider-Man, Simpsons, or Harry Potter rides at Universal Studios/Islands of Adventure.
“The interactive ride, curated by a live performer, will take guests on a journey to a distant planet, where they will face off against larger-than-life foes and fight to save the day. Using cutting-edge 3D technology and 4D effects, the ride throws passengers right into the action, creating a fantastical adventure that they won’t soon forget.”
California’s Great America is a theme park located in Santa Clara, California and the ride is expected to open up there sometime in 2016. This is perhaps to coincide with the release of the next installment in the series, Mass Effect: Andromeda. Could this usher in more video game themed rides in even more theme parks across the world? Will we see old friends from the original Mass Effect trilogy in the ride? Time will tell, but for now, fans can anxiously await this new experience.
Mass Effect: Andromeda will be the next game in the series and while there’s no release date, it was teased at this year’s EA E3 conference.
