NIS America have announced some new information on the upcoming Switch title Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana, including a release window for the JRPG. It will release in Summer 2018.
Ys VIII is a port of a PS4 and PS Vita game that was originally released in Japan in 2016. We now know that the Switch port will be based on the graphically superior PS4 version, and will come pre-packaged with DLC from both the PS4 and the Vita version. The Deserted Pirate and Tropic Swimwear costume that were previously exclusive to the Vita version, as well as the Eternian Scholar costume that was previously a PS4 exclusive will all be coming to the Switch version. Additionally, six other cosmetic DLC will also be available for the new Switch release.
Ys VIII is infamous for having a poor localization upon its initial release; it was so heavily criticized that they decided to release a patch for the PS4 and Vita version that completely updated the localization. They even delayed the PC to ensure that the updated localization was ready for release. Rest assured, the Switch version will come with the updated localization at launch.
