In a touch that recalls the obscene detail of Shenmue 2, Yakuza 6 is offering a playable version of Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown in its in-game arcades, complete with a two-player mode.
It isn’t exactly clear just how in depth this will be; it would be quite the bargain if Sega were willing to offer the full game. It also isn’t known which version of the game will be on offer, with two versions (an A and a B) available. In a recent article on Famitsu (translated here by Gematsu), some of the other playable games have been detailed. The aforementioned VF5 will be joined by Karaoke, darts, mahjong, Puyo Puyo, Batting Center, and Sega retro arcade games Outrun, Super Hang-On, Space Harrier, and Fantasy Zone.
Quite the collection it seems, and if even if you weren’t already a fan of Yakuza, then a stop off at the in-game arcade is sure to have something that’ll interest you if you’re not converted by then.
Yakuza 6 will launch on Dec. 8Â in Japan for the PS4. The 80s-set prequel Yakuza 0 will arrive in January on Western shores, which looks like an impressive love-letter to the 80s, replete with arcades, white blazers and outlandish hair.
