With the Game of Thrones Season 6 premier just a skip away (this Sunday, Apr. 24, for those saving the date), HBO has officially renewed the show for a seventh season.
HBO’s announcement doesn’t mention an episode length for Season 7, though recently it was revealed Executive Producers David Benioff and D.B. Weiss are considering a 13-episode length for the next two seasons. In contrast to the usual 10-episode seasons of the past, this would leave Season 7 with seven episodes and Season 8 with only six. These episodes would likely be a wrap for Game of Thrones, with the network closing a deal to extend the series to eight seasons.
The network also announced season renewals for Veep and Silicon Valley, both to premier in 2017.
We’ll keep you posted on future updates, and in the meantime, let us know if you’ll be catching the Thrones premier this weekend.
