Disney Afternoon Collection Is Bringing Tons of Nostalgia to Consoles and PC Next Month

Fans of Disney and old video games can rejoice. Capcom has just announced the Disney Afternoon Collection. Coming digitally on Apr. 18 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, the Collection will include six platforming games from the 80s and 90s that originally came out on the Nintendo Entertainment System. Remastered at 1080p, Disney Afternoon Collection will cost $19.99 and include the following games:

  • Chip ‘n Dale Rescue Rangers: Rescue Rangers is a platform game allowing for up to two players. Players are tasked with taking down the villain, Fat Cat.
  • Chip ‘n Dale Rescue Rangers 2: The sequel was a bit more linear than its predecessor but featured a new mechanic that allowed players to throw one another as a form of attacking. Fat Cat makes his return as the main villain.
  • Darkwing Duck: also ported to the Gameboy, players took control of the titular Darkwing Duck are is tasked with taking down F.O.W.L. Though not part of the main Disney continuity, Darkwing Duck has a solid following.
  • Ducktales: This platforming game featuring Scrooge McDuck on a quest to get even richer and was ported to Gameboy after its initial release. Eventually, it was remastered for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, WiiU, PC, iOS, and Android.
  • Ducktales 2: One of the last NES titles, the sequel to Ducktales continued the non-linear track of the first game, and even featured the ability to go back to past levels. A reboot of the Ducktales series will also be coming later this year, with David Tennant (Doctor Who,  Broadchurch) voicing the lead role.
  • Talespin: A new animated show ran from 1990 to 1991 using the Jungle Book’s Baloo as the main character. Set in a different universe, this version of Baloo is an air pilot. In this shoot-em-up game, Baloo is tasked with making deliveries while avoiding air pirates led by Shere Khan.

An optional filter for each game, giving it a more retro look will also be available. In addition, each game will receive two new modes. Boss Rush will pit players against bosses consecutively while Time Attack is exactly as the title suggests. Each mode will feature online leaderboards to encourage competition.
