Ubisoft has announced in a press release that it has opened a new production studio in the capital of Serbia, Belgrade. The opening of the Belgrade studio marks the fourth studio Ubisoft has in Eastern Europe. So far only 15 people are working at the studio but the goal is to get up to 40 employees. The studio is helping Ubisoft Paris on Ghost Recon: Wildlands.

The press release stated that Ubisoft was among the first to open a studio in Bucharest, Romania 25 years ago and an “explosive” growth in that region has seen the IT industry thrive.

“Serbia has a lot to offer in terms of talent, in particular tech professionals,” said managing director of Ubisoft Bucharest, Ubisoft Kiev, and Ubisoft Belgrade, Sebastien Delen. “We’re always on the lookout for high potential markets with the passion, skills and expertise to create the very best games, and Serbia’s reputation in several key fields makes this investment the perfect match.”

“We are bringing years of expertise to the Serbian market,” Delen added, “and want to contribute to the development of the local gaming industry, as we did for the other countries in the region.”

The Belgrade studio will also work with local universities in order to help students looking to start a career in gaming. As it stands, Ubisoft currently has over 30 studios across the globe.
