For anyone that doesn’t know The Witcher games are based off of a popular series of Polish fantasy novels by Andrzej Sapkowski. In recent years, the series has become a bit of a point of pride for the country, something you can definitely see as Geralt of Rivia will soon be getting his own postage stamp in Poland.
Damien Monnier, the lead designer of Gwent: The Witcher’s Card Game at CD Projekt Red, posted a picture of the stamp on Twitter. It should also be noted the CD Pro. is a developer based in Poland.

Although Geralt is the main character of the book series as well, they’re clearly using his video game incarnation for the stamp. Japan has seen a series of Super Mario stamps and the like, but here in the U.S. we’ve yet to see any video game characters make their way to our post. Maybe in the future, Poland will have an entire line of Witcher stamps, featuring more characters from the games. Either way, it’s good to see a beloved series get recognition in its country of origin.
What do you think about Geralt of Rivia getting his very own stamp? Would you like to see other game characters get the same treatment here in the U.S.? Leave a comment below and let us know.
