This article is over 7 years old and may contain outdated information

We all knew Call of Duty: WWII was going to include zombies, but we didn’t know how. Would it follow the kitschy movie-like setups such as Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare’s newest zombies map or would it introduce something entirely different? Those things are still up for discussion, but we’re about to learn a little bit more about the new mode during San Diego Comic-Con.

A tweet from the official Call of Duty account has announced that we’ll learn more about Sledgehammer Games’ “twisted new vision” of Call of Duty Zombies on July 20, which is smack dab in the middle of SDCC. Unfortunately, there’s not much else to go on beyond the gruesome image accompanying the tweet.

Call of Duty Zombies has continually offered intriguing and gory supplements to main campaigns and multiplayer modes, inviting celebrities into the fold to weave multifaceted narratives in addition to Call of Duty’s blockbuster stories.

The “twisted new vision” comment in the tweet referring to Call of Duty: WWII seems to indicate the latest excursion into the horror genre means something different is about to happen, but there’s no indicator of what might be changing. It’s possible we may see additional celebrity cameos or maybe even a new format altogether.

If you’re curious, mark your calendar for July 20 and we’ll bring you all the scoops as soon as they land.
