The Game Kitchen Teases Upcoming Updates for Blasphemous

This article is over 5 years old and may contain outdated information

Blasphemous is a fantastic game, but it is far from flawless. The title shipped with several bugs, but the developers at The Game Kitchen have been nothing if not busy squashing these glitches. The studio is proud to announce it is almost ready to roll out the game’s first patch, which should fix many of these annoying issues.

Earlier today, The Game Kitchen revealed Blasphemous’ first patch via the game’s Steam page. While the developers are proud that many journalists, content creators, and streamers enjoy Blasphemous, they also realize the game’s launch wasn’t “as perfect as it should have been.” The Game Kitchen has listened to player feedback, especially regarding bugs that slipped through the cracks of quality assurance testing.

The upcoming patch will tackle some of Blasphemous’ most game-breaking glitches, including the game corrupting save files, resetting progress, and softlocking after the Tres Angustias boss fight. The update will also tackle certain gameplay, geometry, bug, and quest progression issues, but the announcement doesn’t go into further details regarding these other problems. With any luck, the patch will fix the issues I experienced with climbable wooden walls and spike pits.

However, the announcement doesn’t state when the patch will launch, let alone if all platforms will be patched simultaneously or at different times.

While The Game Kitchen is almost ready to unleash Blasphemous’ first patch, the studio is also hard at work improving the game in ways that go beyond normal bug fixes. According to the announcement, The Game Kitchen is currently developing post-launch content that will include “quality of life features and adjustments.” Moreover, the company plans to release updates that “further [expand] the world of Custodia,” so fingers crossed for extra levels, enemies, and bosses.

Blasphemous is currently available on the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC, and Nintendo Switch. For more news and updates, stick with Twinfinite.
