The video spoke on Mass Effect: Andromeda’s inclusion of “over 100 planets,” but it looks like the majority of those will be limited to scanning from the exterior, unsurprisingly. The number of explorable planets will be much smaller, of course, but the video does not go into specifics.

What we do see, however, is an example of how open-world exploration will work in Andromeda, and how it differs from previous games in the series. The biggest shift seems to be towards a more discovery-centered approach to exploration, where driving around planets on the Nomad will result in finding unique locations and characters with their own side stories.

This approach evokes one of BioWare’s other series, Dragon Age, in the sense that planet exploration will likely feel less linear than before. Driving around on the Nomad will play a larger role in moment-to-moment gameplay, and thus there will be more in the game that could possibly miss.
