Pokemon GO is officially coming to the Apple Watch, Niantic announced at the Apple keynote today.
Pokemon GO has been downloaded over 500 million times around the world, and players have walked 4.6 billion kilometers while playing the game. With Pokemon GO on the Apple Watch, Niantic says, they’re hoping to let players get even more active and play even more seemlessly.
Niantic demonstrated how Watch GO would work on stage. A tap on the wrist will let you know as you approach a PokeStop, and you’ll be able to swipe the watch screen to collect items. A summary screen will track your activity and all of the items you’ve collected along the way, which you can review by swiping to end your workout. You can also see your current egg steps, nearby Pokemon, experience level, egg hatching, and medal achievements. Niantic ran into a Snorlax on stage, but mentioned they would need their phone out to catch it.
Pokemon GO will hit Apple Watch before the end of the year.
