According to Media Create sales numbers for the week of Oct. 1 – 7 in Japan, Super Mario Party has taken the top spot right above Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed Odyssey after both games only being out for three days in this window. The launch of Capcom’s Mega Man 11 also made waves in the region, grabbing the number 4 spot, with the Switch version selling almost 15,000 copies alone.
Something interesting to note is that while Assassin’s Creed Odyssey takes second place this past week in terms of sales, Super Mario Party completely decimated the action-RPG selling over 3 times as much. This totally makes sense looking at the hardware sales in Japan last week as well with the Switch selling four times as many systems than the PS4. The Xbox One and Xbox One X also continue to sell as if nobody even knows it exists over there in Japan, selling about 1000 units in this recorded week.

Super Mario Party is out now for the Nintendo Switch and Assassin’s Creed can be played on Xbox One, PS4, and PC. We reviewed Assassin’s Creed Odyssey and called it the “best entry we’ve seen from the series in the last 10 years.”
