State of Decay 2 Finally Has a Release Date; Pre-Orders Starting Today

State of Decay 2, one of the Xbox One’s most anticipated exclusives for this year will be launching this spring on May 22 for both Xbox One and Windows PCs. The game will cost $29.99 for the Standard Edition and $49.99 for the Ultimate Edition [via IGN].

According to the official press release, the Ultimate Edition will include: “4 days early access beginning May 18, along with two add-on packs: “Independence Pack” and “Daybreak Pack” (available at a later release date) on both Xbox One and Windows 10 PC. The Ultimate Edition will also include a download token for a bonus copy of the console version State of Decay: Year-One Survival Edition.” Pre-orders should be available at all the typical places such as GameStop, Amazon and Microsoft themselves at some point today for everyone, and those that pre-order between now and when the game releases on the 21st will receive “some exclusive in game pre-order items” according to the same press release.

IGN, followed up with Microsoft about the low price point and GM of games marketing Aaron Greenberg had this to say: “Our goal is to build a long-term relationship with the State of Decay community and to foster deeper experiences with the franchise. We believe State of Decay 2 accomplishes this goal by immersing fans in the ultimate zombie survival fantasy, and we want to give more players the opportunity to join in and experience this unique game.” via IGN
