Last week, we saw the promotion/relegation tournament come to a close. The bottom two League Championship Series (LCS) teams took on the top two Challenger Series teams, with the winners being promoted to the main league while the losers stayed in the Challenger scene (think of it as a development/minor league in terms of physical sports). Challenger team Gold Coin United (GCU) took down Team Envy on the first day, giving them a chance to either win against Team Liquid or again in a re-match against Envy to secure an LCS spot. Unfortunately, GCU fell just short, with just one win away against both teams. With Team Liquid and Envy’s LCS spots secured once more, the main event takes center stage once more: the North American LCS Spring Playoffs.

Kicking off today, the top 6 teams in the LCS will fight to be crowned the Spring Split Champions. The top two seeds, powerhouses TSM (now rebranded simply to TSM as opposed to Team SoloMid) and Cloud9 will have a bye week. The other four teams face off in the quarterfinals. Phoenix1 and Team Dignitas will play today, with the winner moving on to the semifinals against Cloud 9, while tomorrow pits Counter Logic Gaming and FlyQuest together, with the winner facing TSM.

To tune in, head over to the NA LCS Twitch stream. A video on demand can be found under the videos tab of the page if you can’t watch it live. Will TSM retain its status as top dog in North America? Or will a team like Dignitas make an upset? Let us know what you think below!
