Just recently, the Pokemon GO app has been updated, and several users have found a sudden surprise when they load up the game. That surprise is that a few of them have seemingly lost all of their progress, with them having to start from level one again.

The good news is that players haven’t lost their progress, according to the Official Pokemon GO Twitter. Instead, they might have created a new account without realizing it and need to log out of that second account. There are specific steps shown on the Niantic Labs support page, which explains that they updated their Google account login feature and that some people have been using a different email address to log in.

The first step is to try just logging out at first and logging back in with your correct email. If that doesn’t work then you may need to uninstall the app and install it again. Once you have downloaded it, select the Google login option and you will be redirected to a web page. Double check the email address in the right-hand corner to make sure it is the correct one, if not then sign out of Google and sign in with the correct email. Then press the “Allow” button and you will be redirected back to the app. You should be able to log back in and have your progress back, according to Niantic Labs.
