In an interview with The Worldfolio, the Sega Sammy Holdings Inc. CEO, Hajime Satomi revealed a lot of future plans for the company. One very specific and glaring tidbit is when he goes on to say the following:
“Sega Sammy Group is currently planning with Sony Pictures to create a live-action and animation hybrid ‘Sonic the Hedgehog’ movie scheduled for release in 2018. Like with this CG animation production, we would like to expand our business into other entertainment areas beyond what we are currently involved.”
This is a code red, people. A live-action movie (mixed with CG animation) is in the works with Sony Pictures and is set for release in 2018. Everyone get ready now, we have two years. No additional information on the movie has released yet, but hopefully the Sonic the Hedgehog Twitter account will break the silence soon. We will update you once more information releases. Here’s hoping Danny DeVito is Doctor Eggman.
Recently, it’s been speculated based on a tweet that there will be a Madeon collaboration with Sonic. However, nothing more has come of that and the Twitter account is notorious for being far out there.
