Nintendo Gives More Details on Super Mario Odyssey’s New Luigi’s Balloon World Mode

How the scoring system works.
This article is over 6 years old and may contain outdated information

Nintendo has given us some new information about the upcoming Super Mario Odyssey update launching in February that includes the new Luigi’s Balloon World mode, along with some new outfits and shapshot mode filters. They have detailed how Luigi’s Balloon World will work. Once you have cleared the main story, Luigi will appear when you revisit any of the game’s kingdoms. Talking to him will allow you to partake in two different balloon modes: “Hide it” and “Find it.” In Hide it, your rating is determined by how many coins you collect, as well as how many balloons you have used. In Find it, your rating is determined by how many coins you collect, how many balloons you can find, and how many balloons you can find in quick succession. While playing this mode, there is a chance that the weather could change in the kingdom that you’re in. Nintendo gives the examples of rain in New Donk City, and a sunset in Tostarena. Nintendo also reiterates the new costumes coming to Super Mario Odyssey, and have now named the costumes. Heading to the game in the February update will be the “sunshine” costume, the “bandman” costume and the “armor” costume. Nintendo states that these will not be the last new costumes coming to the game, meaning that we should expect to see more in the future. We also have the new snapshot mode filters coming in this update, including a neon filter, and a gold coin filter that lets you place your favorite Super Mario Odyssey moments into the frame of Mario’s famous coins.
